Rouillier Drilling targets expansion with the Plan Nord
10 janvier 2012
Amos, January 9, 2011– It is the Plan Nord that is motivating Forages Rouillier, a leader of surface diamond drilling in the Mining Exploration Industry, to target expansion in Northern Québec. To that effect, Mario Rouillier, President of Rouillier Drilling, is pleased to announce the acquisition of EIDER 450S heliportable drill rigs, a Fordia product.
The deep drilling capacity of the EIDER 450s heliportable drill rigs varies between 450 and 650 meters. These drill rigs are light, user friendly, completely secure and built in a way that minimizes the number of heliborne trips required which in turn, considerably reduces costs associated with transport by helicopter.
A new way of being environmentally friendly
The drill rigs use environmentally friendly oils. This practice is directly linked to Rouillier Drilling’s philosophy and determination of complying with all environmental regulations and its concern with assuming its responsibilities with regard to protecting the environment where work is being performed. Moreover, the drill rigs can be mounted on crawler tracks when they aren’t in heliportable mode which then reduces the impact of passing drill rigs in urban or humid (peat bog) areas.
Rouillier Drilling already owns two crawler mounted drill rigs built in 2007 and 2008.
This new acquisition marks the beginning of a promising expansion by Rouillier Drilling who also has the option of buying other additional EIDER 450s drill rigs from Fordia. “We believe that with this association of our range of Eider drill rigs with Rouillier Drilling, we are creating a clear leading edge business positioning. It is an incredible asset for the Plan Nord that is launching,” declares Régis Côté, Branch Manager of Fordia in Val-d’Or.
